INFORMAL MEETING
Mondav. November 10.2008 9:30 A.M.
Due to the lack of a quorum, this informal meeting took place.
Members Present: Vice Chair Ruth Samuels; Boazd Member Linda Peterson; and Board
Member Evelyn Weiss. Members Absent: Boazd Member Betty Jane Hofstadter; Boazd
Member Beverly Knight; and Chair Lucy Miller. Also Attending: Town Clerk Beverly
Brown; and Deputy Town Clerk Janice M. Moore
CALL TO ORDER:
Vice Chair Samuels called the Informal Meeting to order at 9:35 a.m.
Town Clerk Brown stated that copies of Resolutions 805 and 815 were distributed to all
Board members. She noted the following:
• 1) Annual election of a chairman and vice chairman;
2) Coordinate regulaz beach clean-up events;
3) Conduct periodic review of ordinances and policies related to beaches and turtles
and make recommendations to the Town Commission; and
4) Assist in efforts to encourage homeowners and associations in keeping levels of
deep-rooted vegetation on the beach to avoid erosion.
1. BEACHES MAINTENANCE:
Following discussion, Vice Chair Samuels recommended that the Boazd review the
ordinances for next month and get input on tightening up the ordinances.
Board Member Peterson noted that lazge pieces of debris (i.e. a front porch) were
washing up on the beach. She believed that these lazge objects could not be disposed of
by the beach cleaner. Vice Chair Samuels noted that the proposals received by the
Municipal Special Task Force Unit (MSTFU) would include not only the removal of
trash, but larger bulk items.
Boazd Member Peterson suggested informing the communication about the available
receptacles by placing signs where there was beach access.
• Vice Chair Samuels and Boazd Member Weiss both agreed to reprint the Beaches &
Maintenance Manuals and distribute to the condos and private homeowners.

By consensus, it was agreed to add the following item be placed on the next agenda:
Communication Program: To Better Inform Condos, Private Homeowners and the Public
of Beach Maintenance & Ordinances
2. MISCELLANEOUS:
Board Member Weiss reminded everyone that the next meeting was scheduled for
Tuesday, December 9~'.
Vice Chair Samuels requested the following item be placed on the next agenda: January
13, 2009 meeting -Appointment of a New Chair and Vice Chair. She also requested that
those Board Members terms that were expiring in 2009 be notified.
3. ADJOURNMENT:
Board Member Peterson moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:54 a.m. Board Member
Weiss seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
