BEACHES ADVISORY BOARD
WORKSHOP MEETING

Chair Lucy Miller called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. In
attendance were Vice Chair Martha Pando, Ruth Samuels, Evelyn Weiss,
and James Wanat. Betty Jane Hofstadter and Gary Guertin were
absent.
NEW BUSINESS
. MSBU Tax Analysis (Municipal Services Benefit U district). This
tax is basically a fund contributed by all residents to go toward
beach cleaning and mangrove maintenance. Dr. Strong - Economist at
FAU, determines what parcels get what level of benefit - i.e. -
beach front homes, Intracoastal homes, interior (no water front)
homes.
. Discussed what this tax would bring to the community.
. There are currently three beach maintenance companies - Beach
Keepers, Universal and Beach Raker. Board should get three
proposals, with a timeline of 2008. .Put together a list of what is
wanted, i.e. services from the vendors.
Mr. Sugerman will compile the information, mail out and conduct
the bid opening.
The Board divided themselves in half to study the beach and mangrove
issues as follows:
BEACH: Miller
Hofstadter
Samuels
Wanat
MANGROVES: Weiss
Pando
Guertin
There was discussion re putting
The next regular meeting will be
December 19.

With no further business to come before the Board, Motion to adjourn
was made by Mrs. Weiss/Mrs. Samuels at 11:00 a.m.
