Mayor Jim Newill, CPA called the Special Meeting to order in Commission Chambers at 9:30
A.M.
CALL TO ORDER:
Roll Call: Members present: Mayor Jim Newill, CPA; Vice Mayor Miriam S. Zwick;
Commissioner Doris M. Trinley; Commissioner John J. Sorrelli and Commissioner John J.
Pagliaro. Also present: Town Attorney Tom Sliney; Town Manager Dale S. Sugerman; Town
Clerk Beverly M. Brown; and members of the public.
Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was given, followed by a moment of silence
i~n honor of members of the military, both living and deceased.
Civility Pledge: Town Clerk Brown recited the Civility Pledge for the Commission and
public.
1. ADDITIONS, DELETIONS OR ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA
Manor Newill took a moment of personal privilege to thank the 958 residents who came
out to vote in the March 10, 2009 Municipal Election.
2. PUBLIC COMMENTS AND REQUESTS
None
3. CERTIFICATION OF RESULTS OF MARCH 10, 2009 ELECTION:
Town Clerk Brown read the results into the record:

MOTION: Commissioner Pa liaro moved to accept the Certified Election Results
submitted by the Supervisor of Elections, Susan Bucher and read into the record by the
Town Clerk; seconded by Commissioner Sorrelli.
Motion passed with a voice vote.
4. ADMINISTERING OATH OF OFFICE:
A} Vice Mayor/Commissioner
Town Clerk Brown administered the Oath of Office to Vice Mayor/Commissioner
Miriam S. Zwick.
B) Commissioner
Town Clerk Brown administered the Oath of Office to Commissioner John J.
Pagliaro.
5. COMMENTS -COMMISSIONERS
Vice Mayor Zwick stated that she was grateful for the opportunity to serve as Vice
Mayor/Commissioner and was humbled to be elected to the position.
Commissioner Pa liaro stated he wanted to thank the residents for their support. Highland
Beach is very special place and he is also humbled by the victory. It was an interesting
experience and appreciated the graciousness of both his opponents.
Commissioner Trinley stated she felt the 958 residents made a wise decision.
Commissioner Sorrelli -welcomed the two elected officials back and thanked all the
candidates for the professionalism showed during the election.
Mater Newill encouraged the two new candidates to continue participating in the
government of Highland Beach.

7. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Commission, Mayor Newill adjourned
the Regular Meeting at 9:45 A.M. upon a MOTION by Commissioner Sorrelli and
seconded by Commissioner Pa liaro.
