MINUTES: TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH SEPTEMBER 23 1964, 7:00 PM
The meeting was called to order by Mayor hackman at 7:00 PM. Comm.
Hackaman, 'Munn, Johnson and Jones were present. comm. Noble was absent.
Mayor Hackman read a letter from the Post Office Dept outlining the rules
and regulations and enclosing the neccessary forms to establish a post
office branch in Highland Beach. After discussing the proposal, all
commissioners agreed that it was a convenience and benefit to the town.
Commissioner Jones moved that the Mayor and town Clerk be authorized to
prepare and sign the routine forms. The motion was seconded by Comm.
Bunn and approved by the affirmative votes of all commissioners.
Mr W. Brandon Vithington attended the meeting and was interviewed for
consideration as town building inspector after a general discussion rela-
tive to duties, codes, licenses and permits, fees etc!PeMr. Withington
lef t It was the opinion of all commissioners present that Mr. Withing-
ton was qualified to take over the duties of building inspector and
recommended that he be appointed,
Town Manager Dailey reported that no persons had appeared to examine or
protest the Tax Roll for 1964; during the period of September 7th to
September 14, 1964 or to the date of this meeting.
Commissioner Johnson moved that the Tax Roll be approved. Comm. Bunn
seconded the motion and all commissioners voted in the affirmative.
RESOLUTION # 126 approving the 1964 Tax Roll is included in the Min -
utes as page 2.
The tentative fiscal year budget starting November 1, 1964 was revised
and with a few minor changes the final budget was approved by the gen-
eral agreement of all commissioners.
RESOLUTION# 127 approving the final budget and tax millage of 3.4 is
included in these minutes as page 3.
After deciding that resolutions 126 & 127 and the final budget for 1965
should be posted on the town hall bulletin board the meeting adjourned
at 9:OOPM by general agreement.

u APPROVING THE 196+ TAX ROLL
WHEREAS THE TOWN COMMISSION, as a Board of Equalizers, held meetings
at the Town Hall on September 7th and 23rd all in 1964, and at said
meetings it heard any and all complaints or objections by tax payers,
in reference to the assessed valuation placed on the Tax Assessment
Roll for 196+ by the Town Tax Assessor and it was found that the Tax
Assessment Roll as prepared by the Tax Assessor is fair, reasonable
and just;
AND WHEREAS the total figures of the Tax assessment Roll for 1964
are as follows:
GROSS VALUATION OF ALL PROPERTY 5 505 060 00
LESS EXEMPTIONS (Homestead & Widow) 90 500 00
NET TAXABLE PROPERTY 5 414 560 00
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Commission of the Town of
Hi Beach, Florida, that the said Real property Tax Roll for
196+ be, and the same hereby is, equalized and adjusted as required
by law, and the same is accepted as being fair, just and equal as
to valuations.

APPROVING THE FINAL BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR STARTING VEMBER * 1, '196+ &
U SETTING TAX MILLAGE ON 1964 TAX ROLL.
WHEREAS the Mayor has submitted a statement of estimated revenue and ex-
pense for the fiscal year starting November 1, 1964, which statement
appears on the following page of this resolution;
AND WHEREAS Said statement has been carefully considered by the Town'. of
Highland Beach Commissioners and is believed to truly represent the ex-
pected income and expense of the Town of Highland Beach, Florida, for
the fiscal year of 1965
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the total tax millage of 3.4 mills a�
recommended and specified in said statement is hereby approved as thl
correct millage to be collected by the Tax Collector on the Tax Asses-
ment roll for the year 1964.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Commission of the Town of High-
land Beach, Florida, that the statement as it appears on the following
page of this resolution be and it is hereby approved as the Final Budget
of the Town of Highland Beach for the fiscal year starting November 1,
1964.
