The regular Town meeting was called to order by Mayor Horton on Tuesday,
June 2, 1970 at 7 :10 P. M. All Commissioners were present except Comm.
Beekman, who was out of Town. The minutes of the regular Town meeting
on May 5, 1970 were read and approved. The minutes of the workshop
meeting on May 12, 1970 were read and after the correction of words
rephrasing, were approved. The minutes of the workshop meeting on May
27, 1970 were read and a correction noted which added the word meter to
the water Ordinance. They were then approved.
Exec. Comm: Vice Mayor Vedder moved to appoint Comm. Beekman as Town
Clerk. Comm. Jurisch seconded and it was unanimous. Vice Mayor Vedder
has been appointed to head the Health and Zoning committee; Comm. Beekman
to head the ta.x committee; Comm. Hackman to head the finance committee;
and Comm. Jurisch to head the public and works committee. Vice Mayor
Vedder moved to accept these appointments, Comm. Jurisch seconded and
iw was unanimously approved.
Mayor Horton has received from the Town Marshall a proposal for two ad-
ditional patrols on Sunday, spaced according to needs, for an added cost
of $ 50.00 a month for the remaining contract period which expires in
December this year. Discussion followed. Vice Mayor Vedder made a
motion to accept this proposal. The motion died for lack of a second. YXI
Further discussion followed, and this will be held in abeyance for -flai=
.. htr- action later, after more information is gathered.
Mayor Horton asked for a motion to sign new signature the various
�./ banks due to a Commissioner change. Vice Mayor Vedder moved this be
done, Comm. Jurisch seconded and it was unanimous.
Mayor Horton read an agreement proposal from John Klinck of Russell &
Axon regarding extra work done as goodwill for the Town, for which they have
received no compensation. They hope to continue assisting the Town but
they want to be retained as consultants on a fee basis for general en-
gineering services. Discussion followed. Comm. Jurisch moved to adopt
this agreement, Vice Mayor Vedder seconded and it was unanimously accepted.
Mayor Horton read a bill from Florida Secretarial Services for several
Zerox copies that were ordered by Comm. Hackman. The Mayor suggested to
Mr. Hackman using the copy machine_ in Town Hall instead of outside
copying facilities.
Mayor Horton informed the Commission that the water plant operators
plan to institute a routine flushing of water mains the second Saturday
of each month. Notices will be mailed out.
Mayor Horton had asked for a motion at a workshop meeting to have the
Town Charter and Ordinances codified. Since no definite bids have yet
been received, action was deferred for a later time.
The Mayor explained some long range road and bridge plans, including
four laning AlA in the future. He asked someone to take this on as a
project, or if anyone knows of someone have them contact the Mayor or
leave their name in the office. The project would include making reports

u to the State Road Dept., maybe contacting neighboring communities for aid
or support in opposing this future plan.
Taxes: There is approximately $ 400.00 outstanding covering four or five
tax bills.
Finance comm.- Comm. Hackman reported the audit is not yet completed so
the finance committee has not made out the budget for the next fiscal year.
Health and zoning: Vice Mayor Vedder reported that Boca -Hi has requested meeting
concerning development of their land. He is conferring with the Town
attorney for advise concerning their plans and requests. There was no
report on health.
Public Works and Water:- Comm. Jurisch stated that the complete water
diagnosis of the Town's water needs will be here Friday. He reported
having several meetings regarding the immediate problem of securing water
plant operators, as the present ones have resigned as of July. The water
meter reader has resigned as of July lst. One suggestion was to read the
115 meters every other month to lighten his work load, or estimate one
month and reading the second month. Discussion followed and this will be
explored further. Mayor Horton suggested it would be helpful to keep
water meters clear of shrubs to expidite reading.
The Air Conditioning Ordinance was referred to the zoning committee for
reworking and is not available for reading at this time.
An Ordinance providing for required connection to the Town's sewer system,
providing for payment of sewer connection charge, rates, and charges for
use of the sewer system, method of billing for payments for service was read.
Since being amended after the April reading, this was considered to be the
first reading. Discussion followed. Comm. Hackman and Vice Mayor Vedder
each questioned a section, for clarification.
An Ordinance governing parking of boats within the Town was read for the
first time. Discussion followed.
Comm. Hackman suggested that all complaints should be in writing.
The outstanding bills and acoounts were read and approved for payment, by
a motion from Vice Mayor Vedder and a second from Comm. Jurisch.
The meeting was adjourned at 9 :10 P. M.
