MINUTES: PUBLIC HEARING held September 11, 1973 - 2:05 P.M.
The Public Notice called for the purpose of informing the resident of the Town
of Highland Beach of the proposed Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 1974 and,
if adopted, the budgeted ad valorem tax rate of 4.24 per $1,000.
Present were: Mayor Horton and Commissioners Gilday and Joy. Absent were:
Vice Mayor Dent and Commissioner Mumford.
Mayor Horton summarized the proposed budget, explaining obvious increases over
the prior year and discussion followed.
The millage rate of 4.24 would be: Operating 3.01 and 1.23 for Debt servicing.
Capital Expenditures were not included and any capital improvements required to be
purchased will be discussed at meetings of the Commission at a later date.
It was suggested that the Final Budget be sent to Town residents who receive the
bulletin.
Without any changes, Commissioner Gilday offered the motion, seconded by Commissioner
Joy and approved by Mayor Horton, and Commissioners Gilday and Joy which adopted the
Proposed Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 1974 and set the Millage Rate as 4.24.
Since the Tax Assessor's Office had set the millage rate as 3.76, prior to the
meeting; that office would be advised of the Commission's action for its certification
not later than September 12, 1973.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 3:00 P.M.
