1949.12.06_TC_Minutes t: mo for Minutes- regular monthly meeting 12/6/49- Highland Beach Commission 'tterdale callaed to order 7:45 P M Entire 5 man commission present. 'fnutes previous meeting read and approved. Motion bar Heaton- second by Smith. No dissent. (Is a formal motion required for minutes approval ?) Mayor Totterdale Reported that As instructed in last meeting he and Clerk Hertwig had executed the contract with Howard Lee Cromer, for construction of the water works and presented the contract to the commission. The mayor also reported that in accordance with i#structions of the commission, he and Mr. Hertwig had consulted with the Town Engineer, Mr Brockway, to see where _fts6e proper alteration might be made in the construction work, so that some reduction in cost would result in bringing the over all cost completely within the bond issue. Mayor Totterdale said that it seemed advisable to effect reductions in cost by making the following changes. Reduce canal crossing from 12" to 10" and change type of bolts. Reduce working pressure design of tank to 150# /sq. inch. Delete 900 feet of 66 transite pipe and in place, Substitute 600 feet of 2" galvanized iron pipe. The above changes would reduce the contract cost $4,344. which would bring the over -all cost of the water project within the amount realized from the sale of The Town's ;10000000 Bond issue. Mapor Totterdale stated that the Town Engineer was preparing a change order to cover the above mentioned changes and that when ready the order would be submitted for the Commission's approval.' Comm. Dubendorff moved that in general the above mentioned changes be declared satisfactory to the Commission and that all phases of the question be referred to Attorngy Byrd. Heaton seconded th6 motion and on vote it was passed by affirmative votes by Comm. Totterdale, Heaton, Smith, Dubendorff and Hertwig. There was no dissent. A general discussion was held on the proposal to put up speed limit signs, to reduce excessive vehicular speeds A]A. YAyor Totterdale offered to consult with the State Road Dept about the matter and report to a later meeting. The matter of Building Permits was discussed as a necessary control to prevent erection of building requirements and other desirable or undesirable features. The Ityor named a committee of himself and Comm. Hertwig to meet with the Town Attorney and have an ordinance drawn to be submitted to the Commission. There being no further business requ a attention the motion by Comm. Smith, was recessed at the call of the Mayor � s econded by Comm. Dubendorff. Affirmative votes by all five present. I�lo nt.
