Highland Beach Town Commission July 1 ; 1 50 (an informal meeting) The Commission met at the Town Tull at 10:00 A. M . to receive the Assessment Roll,for the year 1950, from the Tax Assessor. All five commissioners vTere present. Ivr. Samuel C. Roth was present to inquire into the amount of his assessment, which appeared to be excessive according to the Preliminary figures obtained fron the office of the tax assessor of Palm Beach County. Is. Roth later advised that he had called at the County office in West Palm Beach where it Y,ras found that his assessment was in error and accordin it was corrected and set at a basis of �P500 tier front foot. The Ta.. Assessor advised the Town Commission that in accordance t < <,rith the declared policy of the Commission he had closely followed the valuations set un by the County Assessment Roll for realty. He advised that on personal nronerty assessments he had i)sed the County assessment roll as a guide but that some of the figures seemed rather high and that in those cases he had made reductions in accordance with his 'nest jud7,ement. After looking over the assessment roll the commissioners recessed to meet at the Town Hall at . P M. as a Board of Tax Egiializers in compliance with notice previously posted. Dubendorff, T'eaton, Smith, Totterdale Herttnrig. The Town Tax Assessor Dresented the assessment roll of property within the Town of Hinhland Beach, .for the year 1950 and the roll shows the following valuations: 1950 Town of Highland Beach Tax Roll: Total value of all real estate / 00 and tangible personal ?DropertT7 for 1 Total value of all taxable real estate and tangible personal property /. �� Home r r .� �� ome stead Exemptions , �,���� , X00. 7 00 Spoil area - � - The Commission reviewed the Tax Roll and the assessed valuations as shown thereon and the IVIDavor inquired whether there were anv property owners or representatives of same who wished to make any protest concerning the assessment roll. There were no such persons present and the several commissioners stated that they had received no notice that any persons desired to appear. u After a general discussion of :natters concerning the assessment roll the Commissioners decided it would be wise to recess the meet- ing to permit am*?le time for nuestions or objections from pro- perty owners. c cord in,�-lt* Comm. Heaton moved that the meeting be recessed at the call of the 1.'alror or until 2:30 P. I'll. on Friday July 28, 1950 at which time the assessment roll will be verified and made final with such correction and equalization as the comm- issioners find to be proper. The motion was seconded by Comm. Du- bendorff and passed by affirmative votes of all five commissioners present, and so the meeting was recessed. Approved �� Page 4.
