TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH
MINUTES OF TOWN COMMISSION MEETING
REGULAR MEETING
Tuesdav, February 07, 1995 1.30 p m
Mayor Arlin G. Voress called the Regular Meeting to order in
Commission Chambers at 1:30 P.M.
Acting Town Clerk Doris Trinley called the roll. The Mayor, Vice
Mayor Bill Paul and Commissioners Arthur Eypel, David Augenstein
and John F. Rand were present.
Town Manager Mary Ann Mariano and Town Attorney Thomas E. Sliney
were also in attendance, as were members of the general public.
Following roll call, the Pledge of Allegiance was given.
ADOPTION OF AGENDA
The Agenda was adopted as written upon MOTION by COMMISSIONER
AUGENSTEIN/COMMISSIONER EYPEL.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Upon MOTION by COMMISSIONER RAND/COMMISSIONER AUGENSTEIN, the
Minutes of the following Meetings were unanimously approved:
December 27, 1994 - Workshop Meeting
January 03, 1995 - Regular Meeting
January 20, 1995 - Special Exception Hearing
PUBLIC COMMENTS AND/OR REQUESTS
There were no public comments; however, Mayor Voress took this
opportunity to invite those Talent Bank Applicants who had not yet
been interviewed by the Commission to be heard. The following
residents addressed the Commission, giving brief personal
histories, and answering questions to the Commission's
satisfaction:
David Yarosh (Board of Adjustment)
Norman Stevens (Community Appearance Board
Ellen Romberg (proposed Library Foundation)
REPORTS - TOWN COMMISSION
Vice Mayor Bill Paul noted that the Town had been ranked fourth in
the County regarding recycling efforts in a February 5 Sun Sentinel
. article. While expressing appreciation for those residents who
were recycling to full measure in a consistent manner, the Vice

encouraged those who were not yet taking part in this important
effort to do so.
Although he had no formal report, Commissioner Arthur Eypel
commented on the fine caliber of residents who continue to be
willing to serve on the Town Boards.
Commissioner John F. Rand advised that again this year, through
AARP's sponsorship, tax preparation would be available to residents
at no cost whatsoever. In this regard, the Commissioner noted that
locations and times for this service would soon be published in
local newspapers, and copies would be made to post in Town Hall; he
also requested that this information be aired on Government Channel
12.
Commissioner Rand further reported of traffic difficulties
regarding entering the St.Lucy's Church parking lot on those days
when services are held and asked Police Chief Cecere's assistance
in this regard.
Regarding purchase of the new fire truck, the Commissioner
reiterated his request that financial data be provided on the
successful bidder, Sutphen Corporation.
Neither Commissioner David Augenstein nor Mayor Arlin Voress had a
report. Likewise, there was no report forthcoming from either the
Town Manager or the Town Attorney.
REPORTS - BOARDS AND COMMITTEES
The Board Action Report for January 1995 was accepted as
information.
Following the Mayor's announcement of February Board meetings,
wherein existing vacancies were noted, Commissioner Rand nominated
Norman Stevens to the Community Appearance Board and Paul R. Rane,
Sr. to the Planning Board. There were no other nominations for
either Board, and those herein noted were unanimously approved.
Messrs . Stevens and Kane will each serve a three-year term as a
Regular Member of their respective Boards.
There being no further business to come before the Commission at
this time, the meeting was adjourned at 1:55 P.M. upon MOTION by
VICE MAYOR PAUL/COMMISSIONER RAND.
