1999.09.07_TC_Minutes_Special TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH MINUTES OF TOWN COMMISSION MEETING SPECIAL WORKSHOP MEETING Tuesdav, September 07, 1999 2:25 P.M. Mayor Thomas J. Reid called the Special Workshop Meeting to order in Commission Chambers at 2:25 P.M., advising its purpose was to receive comments from the Commission and the general public regarding Adelphia cable service. Mayor Reid, Vice Mayor Michael W. Hill, and Commissioners John J. Sorrelli, Paul R. Kane and Robert L. Lowe were present. Town Attorney Thomas E. Sliney and Town Manager Ben Saag were also present, as were members of the general public. Chuck Blaine, Government Services Director, and Tony Genova, General Manager for the Delray area represented Adelphia. The Commission opened the dialogue, seeking definite timeframes to long-promised improvements, and expressing displeasure with the ongoing quality of picture transmission, as well as reported consistent interruption in service and slow or non-existent • response to requests for service. Residents who addressed the Adelphia representatives, all of whom echoed the Commission's dissatisfaction with quality and service, included residents and/or managers of the following: Carlton House Seagate Ocean Dunes Highlands Place Aberdeen Arms Dalton Place Evanton Baye Boca Cove Russell Drive Town Manager Saag also advised that Leonard Bell (2727 S. Ocean Boulevard? had e-mailed Town Hall, requesting that his displeasure regarding C-SPAN scheduling be noted for the record. Generally speaking, the responses given by Messrs. Blaine and Genova were not well-received, as it was felt the same answers had been given over time with no tangible results. Both gentlemen did encourage that any difficulties be reported directly to either of them. • Concluding discussion, Town Manager Saag advised that Messrs. Blaine and Genova would attend a Condominium Managers' meeting on ~. Minutes of Town Commission Special Workshop Meeting September 7, 1999 _ Paae 2 of 2 September 14 to continue this discussion with the managers and hopefully resolve some of the problems that the large buildings have been experiencing with Adelphia.
