2001.03.14_TC_Minutes_Special1~ . TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH MINUTES OF TOWN COMMISSION MEETING SPECIAL MEETING(CANVASSING BOARD) Wednesday, March 14. 2001 1:00 P M Mayor Thomas J. Reid called the Special Meeting to order in Commission Chambers at 1:00 P.M., stating its purpose was to have himself sworn in as Mayor (unopposed in the March 13, 2001 Municipal Election); announce the results of the March 13, 2001 Municipal Election for two (2) Commission seats, and to have those successful candidates sworn in as Commissioners. The Mayor and Commissioners John J. Sorrelli, Paul R. Kane and Robert L. Lowe were present. Vice Mayor Michael W. Hill was absent. Town Attorney Thomas E. Sliney and Town Manager Ben Saag were also present, as were members of the general public. The Mayor requested Town Clerk Doris Trinley to read Resolution 772, which declared the election for Mayor to have been held on March 13 unnecessary as the only • candidate to qualify, Thomas J. Reid, was unopposed. Upon MOTION by COMMISSIONER KANE/COMMISSIONER SORRELLI, the Resolution was unanimousy approved and Mayor Reid was sworn in for a second term. (Copy of Resolution attached to and made part of these Minutes) The Mayor next presented Commissioner Paul R. Kane with an appreciation plaque and thanked him for his many years of service to the Town. Mr. Kane then vacated his seat. The Clerk was requested to read the certified results of the election for two (2) Commission seats, as per the Supervisor of Elections Office, into the record: Robert L. Lowe.......556 Rachael Scala-Pistone......561 Joseph S. Yucht......422 Upon MOTION by COMMISSIONER SORRELLI/COMMISSIONER KANE, the results were unanimously accepted. (Copy attached to and made part of these Minutes.) Robert L. Lowe was then sworn in for a second term, followed by Rachael Scala- Pistone being sworn in for a first term. Both Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Scala-Pistone thanked those who . supported them, and said they looked forward to serving the Town. • Minutes of Town Commission Special Meeting March 14. 2001 Page 2 of 2 Mayor Reid concluded the Commission remarks by stating he was pleased with the election results and looked forward to the next two (2) years. Lezley Garrett, 2917 S. Ocean Blvd., congratulated the newly elected officials, as did former Commissioner Paul R. Kane. There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, upon MOTION by COMMISSIONER SCALA-PISTONE/COMMISSIONER LOWE, Mayor Reid adjourned the Special Meeting at 1;15 P.M.
