2000.11.08_TC_Minutes_SpecialTOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH MINUTES OF TOWN COMMISSION MEETING PUBLIC HEARING Tuesday, November 8. 2000 2:25 P.M. Mayor Thomas J. Reid called the Public Hearing to order in Commission Chambers at 2:25 P.M., advising its purpose was to receive public input regarding the following proposed ordinance: AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA, RELATING TO REZONING; PROVIDING FOR THE REZONING OF TOWN LOTS 4E AND 5E; PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE "OFFICIAL ZONING MAP" OF THE TOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH; PROVIDING FOR THE APPROPRIATE REVISION OF THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP; PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE. Town Clerk Doris Trinley called the roll. The Mayor, Vice Mayor Michael W. Hill, and Commissioners John J. Sorrelli, Paul R. Kane and Robert L. Lowe were present. • Town Attorney Thomas E. Sliney was also present, as were members of the general public. Town Manager Ben Saag was absent. Although this hearing was to deal solely with the rezoning of Town Lots 4E and 5E, Robert J. Massarelli of Gee & Jenson, representing Palm Beach County, addressed those present and gave a historic overview of why the County was requesting rezoning, i.e., development of a County park. Mr. Massarelli spoke at length, noting applicable elements of the Town's Comprehensive Plan that made reference to such a park and citing the goals and objectives of the County in this regard. Resumes of Gee & Jenson and County personnel who are assigned to the project were made available and are attached to these Minutes. Those who addressed the Commission in favor of the rezoning were as follows: Joseph Yucht, 4748 S. Ocean Blvd. Jason Brodsky, 4517 S. Ocean Blvd. Those who addressed the Commission in opposition to the rezoning were as follows: John Scott, 4505 S. Ocean Blvd. Sandy Steinberger, 4408 Intracoastal Dr. There were no other comments from the public. Minutes of Town Commission Public Hearing November 8. 2000 Page 2 of 2 It was noted that a second public hearing on the rezoning is scheduled for Tuesday, November 28, at 2:00 P.M., immediately followed by a Special Meeting during which the Commission could vote on adopting the proposed rezoning ordinance, should they so choose.
