HIGHLAND BEACH
HISTORICAL SOCIETY
ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
MINUTES
September 18, 1998 9.30 a.m.
Chairman Thomas J. Reid called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.
Present were the Chairman, and committee members John J. Sorrelli,
Jim Niehoff and Lillian Heidelberg. Arlin G. Voress, Leonard
Bell, Pay Cayce, Dan Stump and Victor Napoli were absent.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Vice Mayor Reid entertained a MOTION to approve the Minutes of the
July 29, 1998 Meeting. Motion passed with unanimous vote.
OLD BUSINESS
It was determined that the Committee will remain as a non -
incorporated entity for the time being.
NEW BUSINESS
The following items were discussed:
It was suggested that the letter Jim Niehoff prepared addressed to
town residents, be attached to the upcoming Winter Newsletter which
will be approved by the Commission the end of November. This
letter is a request for volunteers for the Society.
Retain someone who can go through 50 years of town news clippings
to select and put into historic order.
The building department produce a list of each condo and when it
was built.
Identify people who have lived in Town 25 years or more who may be
able to offer historical town history.
Obtain history of St. Lucy church.
Mr. Sorrelli suggested a "coffee clutch" be held in the January
timeframe in order to encourage residents to volunteer their
services.
A bound book be produced with the historic information and pictures
obtained. This could include: history of town; history of each
condo; homeowners associations; give each condo a page within the
book.

OTHER BUSINESS
Accept start up money from the town for start up expenses (i.e.,
postage, copying, etc.)
Minutes shall reflect Vice Mayor Reid as Chairman, and Mayor Voress
and Commissioner Sorrelli as Members.
Motion to adjourn was made at 10:25 a.m. by MR. NIEHOFF/
MR. SORRELLI.
