PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY BOARD
MEETING MINUTES
July 12 2004 9:30 a.m
Chairman Anthony J. Casale opened the meeting at 9:30 a.m. in Commission Chambers.
Also present were Vice Chair Harold R. Hagelmann, Alfred Bresnahan and Lawrence
Pitzer. Jonathan Wiener was absent. Non -voting members present were Assistant Fire
Chief Charles Stravino, Officer Bob Gorman and Assistant to Town Manager Sue Gray.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Upon MOTION by Mr. Bresnahan/Mr. Pitzer, the minutes of the May 10, 2004 meeting
were unanimously approved.
OLD/NEW BUSINESS
Town Attorney Thomas E. Sliney spoke to the Board about the Sunshine Law and how
it pertains to Town Boards.
• Requests from May 10, 2004 meeting - discussion of Sue Gray's memo; a -mails with
Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Sargent. Chairman Casale asked that information from the
marine patrol be shared with the Commission.
OTHER BUSINESS
Vice Mayor Asselta gave a synopsis of the reason the money was not put into the
budget for a patrol boat. Mr. Hagelmann mentioned that he has done some research
on obtaining a boat. He has spoken with Assistant Chief of Police in Boca Raton.
Chief Stravino mentioned that the new rescue truck is here and now in service.
Mr. Pitzer expressed a concern regarding solicitations and suggested a Town Ordinance
prohibiting this. Mr. Casale suggested he contact Tom Sliney on this.
Mr. Hagelmann raised the issue of restricting fireworks in Town.
Mr. Pitzer suggested we need to advise elderly residents about identity theft.
