• CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD
MARCH 20, 1985 WORKSHOP MEETING 9:30 A.M.
Vice Chairman Robert Myers called the Workshop Meeting of the Code En-
forcement Board to order at 9:30 A.M.
Other members present were Secretary Ellen Gerber and Messrs. Donald
Sherbondy, John Chironna, Theodore Boepple and Edward J. Pearlstein
(alt.). Also present were Town Attorney Tom Sliney, Building In-
spector Anthony Abbate, Mr. Jerry Johnson, Recording Secretary Anne
Kowals and a few Town residents.
Absent from this meeting were Chairman Robert F. Scholz and Mr. Alfred
Novak.
Secretary Ellen Gerber read the minutes of the Workshop Meeting of
February 20, 1985. Approval of these minutes was tabled until the
Regular Meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
Building Inspector Anthony Abbate gave a brief report on the hazzardous
• conditions at the Coronado.
Mr. Abe Futernick, as a resident of Coronado, addressed the members
and described the dangerous conditions. The sprinkler system 'hangers'
in the garage area and the balcony railings are corroding.
Building Inspector Anthony Abbate said the building association should
be apprised of these conditions.
Vice Chairman Robert Myers questioned the Code Enforcement Board's
jurisdiction in such matters. It was agreed that where personal health,
safety or fire hazzard is concerned, the Town should take steps to cor-
rect -whatever is necessary. The Code Enforcement Officer's duty is to
send a letter advising of violation and, if need be, issue a citation.
Building Inspector Anthony Abbate said some of the 'hangers' have been
changed. Railings have not been checked as it necessitates entering an
apartment to conduct an inspection.
Members were advised that a letter was sent to Grady & Associates, Inc.,
informing them that soliciting apartments and townhomes for resale at
Boca Hi is against the Town Code. The Building Inspector advised that
• Grady & Associates, Inc., are no longer at Boca Hi.

A letter to Commissioner Stewart from the Bel Lido Property Owner's
Association, Inc., regarding seawall ordinances was discussed briefly.
Secretary Ellen Gerber said the Code Enforcement Board recommended to
the Town Commission that this board not be involved in rewriting the
ordinance for seawalls.
Town Attorney Tom Sliney said the seawall ordinance is still pending
and the exact language is to be determined. The Town Attorney is try-
ing to keep the Town out of the seawall inspection business. It was
suggested members of the Code Enforcement Board attend the Town. Com-
mission Workshop Meeting on March 26, 1985, and offer their comments
regarding the ordinance for seawalls as listed on the Workshop Agenda.

• are being closely watched to be certain they are properly maintained.
Vacant sites where pools of stagnant water breed insects are sprayed
periodically by the Palm Beach County Mosquito Control Commission.
The state checked these sites and advised the drainage system at
these areas are working as required.
There being no further discussion, Vice Chairman Robert Myers ad-
journed the Workshop Meeting at 10:05 A.M.
