1985.04.17_CEB_Minutes_WorkshopTOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA • CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD APRIL 17, 1985 WORKSHOP MEETING 9.30 A.M. Chairman Robert Scholz called the Workshop Meeting of the Code Enforce- ment Board to order at 9:30 A.M. Other members present were Messrs. Donald Sherbondy, Robert Myers, John Chironna, Theodore Boepple, Alfred Novak and alternate Edward J. Pearl - stein. Also present were Town Attorney Richard Barkin, Recording Secre- tary Anne Kowals and a few Town residents. The recording secretary read the minutes of the March 20, 1985, Workshop Meeting. Approval of these minutes was tabled until the Regular Meeting. Chairman Scholz advised the members that per memo of March 20, 1985, Building Inspector Anthony Abbate and Mr. A. Futernick, Coronado resi- dent, checked the sprinkler system 'hangers' and railings at the Coro- nado and found the conditions were exaggerated and no danger exists, at the present time. The Board Members discussed the James A. Barry residence regarding the replacement of trees and shrubs. Mr. Barry's letter of March 7, 1985, • to Chairman Scholz advised the Delray Nursery was completing the plant- ing and landscaping. Citation #p2246 has been satisfied. Mr. Barry has complied with the code requirement. Mr. Alfred Novak briefly discussed a situation at the Ambassadors East regarding an exhaust pipe that was placed underneath a first floor bal- cony. The matter will be discussed further with Building Inspector Abbate at the next Code Enforcement Board meeting. The Code Enforcement Board members discussed the seawall in disrepair at 1100 A Highland Beach Drive. Town Attorney Tom Sliney, after some research, determined the property is owned by Dr. Alvin Jarrett of 4704 Ocean Front, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Citation ##2248 was issued to Dr. Jarrett on March 20, 1985, as a technicality so all parties involved in ownership of said property are aware of the deteriorating seawall. Building Inspector Abbate had taken photos on March 25, 1985, showing the hole at the seawall had been filled in with sand. Presently, another dangerous condition exists at Dr. Jarrett's property. The pool work was never completed; consequently, steel rods protrude on all sides creating a serious hazard. It is the opinion of the Board Members that another citation regarding the g g pool, should be issued to • Dr. Jarrett.
