1985.05.15_CEB_Minutes_WorkshopTOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA 0 CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD MAY 15, 1985 WORKSHOP MEETING 9.30 A.M. Chairman Robert F. Scholz called the Workshop Meeting of the Code En- forcement Board to order at 9:30 A.M. Other members present were Secretary Ellen Gerber, Messrs. Robert Myers, John Chironna, Theodore Boepple, Alfred Novak and alternate Edward J. Pearlstein. Also present were Building Official Bruce Sutherland, Recording Secretary Anne Kowals and a few Town residents. Secretary Ellen Gerber read the minutes of the April 17, 1985, Work- shop Meeting. Approval of these minutes was tabled until the Regular Meeting. Chairman Scholz informed the board members that Building Inspector Abbate was advised by Dr. Jarrett that he has contracted with Light- house Pool, Inc., to finish the remodeling of the pool at 1100A Highland Beach Drive and work will commence no later than June 1, 1985. Building Inspector Abbate stated that the seawall has not presented any serious problem inspite of back -fill only. Building Official Sutherland said he inspected the property at 1100A Highland Beach Drive and found six posts were placed around the pool which was roped off with red plastic ribbon. The steel rods were bent inward to eliminate dangerous protrusion. The back -fill at the seawall, said Mr. Sutherland, is developing pockets. This will be taken care of when the pool work is being completed, Mr. Sutherland stated, and there is nothing of a danger- ous nature at Dr. Jarrett's property. Chairman Scholz said the Jarrett matter can be put to rest unless the building inspector finds the work, upon completion, unsatisfactory. The next item for discussion, Chairman Scholz stated, concerns the 'Emergency Diesel Generator Emissions' at the Ambassadors East Condominium Association, Inc. Chairman Scholz read a letter dated April 3, 1985, to Mr. Anthony J. Abbate, from Arthur R. Keller, President of Ambassadors East Condo- minium Association, Inc. regarding their emission problem. A schedule of 'Operation for preventive maintenance - diesel generators', and a letter from Formica Associates was attached to Arthur R. Keller's letter. CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD • Workshop Meeting MaV 15, 1985 Page 2 of 2 Mr. Keller said there is no ready solution to the problem; however, they are working towards resolving the matter. Unfortunately, the emergency generator is situated under apartment 106. The mainte- nance department runs the unit when the wind is favorable. After some discussion regarding the problem at Ambassadors East, the members agreed this is an internal matter and the Code Enforcement Board should not be involved.
