1983.09.21_CEB_Minutes_RegularTOWN OF HIGHLAND BEACH, FLORIDA CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD September 21, 1983 10:15 A.M. Regular Meeting Chairman Scholz called the Regular meeting to order at 10:15 A.M. Members present were: Robert Scholz, Chairman; Robert Myers, Vice - Chairman; Ellen Gerber, Secretary; John Chironna, Albert Approbato, Alfred Novak. Mr. Sherbondy was absent. Also present were: Elaine W. Roberts, Town Manager; Anthony Abbate, Code Enforcement Officer; Tom Sliney, Town Attorney; and Rita Ebersole. For the record, Mr. Scholz reiterated that the Board is saddened by the passing away of Soll Roehner. He did a great job for the Board and the Town of Highland Beach. Mr. Scholz read a letter of sympathy written by Mrs. Gerber to be sent to Mrs. Roehner on behalf of the Code Enforcement Board. Mrs. Gerber read the minutes of the regular meeting of June 15th, 1983. Motion by Mr. Myers, seconded by Mr. Novak to approve the Workshop and Regular Minutes of meeting as read. All agreed. Mrs. Gerber read the minutes of the Special Meeting of September 9, 1983. Motion by Mr. Novak, seconded by Mr. Myers to approve as read. All agreed. Mr. Scholz read a letter from Attorney Sliney outlining recommendations for an Order to be sent to J.H.L. Inc., Jeff Hackman. Mrs. Gerber moved that the minutes of Special Meeting, September 9th be amended to read "the following motion was recommended" (page 2) and all agreed. Tony Abbate said Mr. Hackman is hiring a tree surgeon and he will apply for a permit to trim the historic tree. Citation #k02216 - Ocean Properties, Holiday Inn - working without a permit, was discussed. Mr. Walsh and his attorney, Robert Eisen were sworn in. After lengthy discussion, Mrs. Gerber Moved that the Holiday Inn be ordered to apply for a permit within the next three working days and pay double the permit fee. Motion was seconded by lair. Myers and all were in favor. Code Enforcement Board • Regular Meeting September 21, 1983 • 0 Page 2 Citation #02217 - Frank Sawyer, 2545 S. Ocean Blvd. - not maintaining lawn. After some discussion, this case was dismissed by a Motion made by Mrs. Gerber, seconded by Mr. Myers. All were in agreement, since the lawn had been cut within the time specified. Regarding Citation #$01144, Mr. Browning wrote a letter to the Board stating he would be out-of-town on September 21st. Action was post- poned on his case until the November meeting. The secretary was directed to advise Mr. Browning of the meeting date. October 19th was set for the next meeting date if there are citations to act on, otherwise, the next meeting will be held on November 16, 1983. The meeting adjourned at 11:50 A.M.
