Chairman Rome called the Public Hearing of the Planning Board, Town of Highland Beach, Florida, to order at 3:05 P.M. in the Commission Chambers at Town Hall. The Recording Secretary called the roll. Present were Chairman D. R. Rome, Vice Chairman J. E. Ward, Regular Members M. A. Waldman and A. Leng. Alternate Members C. H. Bartlett, acting as a Regular Member, and A. Futernick were also present. Also in attendance were Town Attorney T. E. Sliney, Town Manager H. D. Williams, Building Official B. Sutherland, Recording Secretary A. M. Kowals and members of the general public. Chairman Rome stated the public is invited to make any comments they would like regarding the rezoning that will follow the change in the growth management plan of the Town of Highland Beach. Town Attorney Sliney set the stage by explaining the notice of the Public Hearing, in essence, is that the properties in question which were listed on the public notice, were changed by the Town Commission in • May of 1987 by Ordinance to a maximum density of 8 units per acre. That is on the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The Planning Board and Town Commission are now ready to change the Town zoning map to conform with that Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The Planning Board is soliciting any comments on that matter at this Public Hearing; then, at their Regular Meeting on September 9, 1987, they will make their recommendation to the Town Commission. Chairman Rome invited members of the audience to step forward and make their comments. Allen Schweizer, a resident of Braemer Isles, stated he supports the density decrease because of the problems with sewage, water and traffic. As a permanent resident, continued Mr. Schweizer, he would hate to live under*conditions that higher density would bring. Warren Hofstadter, a Boca Highland resident, said he hopes the Planning Board will stick by their guns and stay with the proposition of 8 units per acre. As a permanent resident, he does not want the crowding. As there were no further comments, Chairman Rome adjourned the Public Hearing.
